Enseigner à nos enfants

 "Tu aimeras l'Éternel, ton Dieu, de tout ton cœur, de toute ton âme et de toute ta force. Et ces paroles que je te prescris aujourd'hui seront dans ton coeur. Tu les enseigneras avec soin à tes enfants, et tu en parleras quand tu seras assis dans ta maison, quand tu marcheras sur le chemin, quand tu te coucheras et quand tu te lèveras". -Déutéronome 6:5-7

L'une de nos principales responsabilités en tant que parents est d'enseigner à nos enfants la voie du Seigneur. L'Écriture nous dit que cela doit être un processus constant et continu : "[Tu] parleras d'eux quand tu seras assis dans ta maison, quand tu marcheras sur le chemin, quand tu te coucheras et quand tu te lèveras" (v. 7).

Jésus a dit que la loi reposait sur deux commandements : aime l'Éternel Dieu et aime ton prochain (Matthieu 22:27-40). Ces mots que Jésus dit dans Matthieu viennent juste avant qu'il ne fasse référence au commandement donné dans le Deutéronome d'être suivi par tous et fidèlement enseigné aux générations futures. "Tu aimeras l'Éternel, ton Dieu, de tout ton cœur, de toute ton âme et de toute ta force" (Deutéronome 6:5). Nous devons transmettre ce principe à nos enfants par-dessus tout.

Qu'enseignons-nous à nos enfants ? Vivons-nous de manière à ce que nos enfants soient attirés vers le Seigneur ? Que nos paroles et nos actions fassent honneur au Seigneur et apportent la vie à nos enfants alors que nous les conduisons dans Ses voies.

 "You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength. And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up." -Deuteronomy 6:5-7

One of our primary responsibilities as parents is to teach our children the way of the Lord. Scripture tells us that this should be a constant and on-going process: “[You] shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up” (v. 7).

Jesus said that the law hung on two commandments: love the LORD God and love your neighbor (Matthew 22:27–40). These words Jesus says in Matthew come right before He references the command given in Deuteronomy to be followed by all and faithfully taught to future generations. “You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength” (Deuteronomy 6:5). We are to impart this principle to our children above all else.

What are we teaching our children? Are we living in such a way that our children will be drawn to the Lord? May our words and our actions bring honor to the Lord and life to our children as we lead them in His ways.
