Racheté par le sang

"'Car la vie de la chair est dans le sang, et je vous l'ai donnée sur l'autel pour faire l'expiation de vos âmes ; car c'est le sang qui fait l'expiation de l'âme'". -Levitique 17:11

Les croyants en Christ ont souvent été critiqués pour avoir mis l'accent sur le sang de Jésus. Cependant, le "sang" apparaît 360 fois dans l'Ancien Testament et plus de cinquante fois dans le Nouveau Testament en référence à l'expiation. Moïse déclare dans le Lévitique que la vie est dans le sang et que seul le sang peut faire l'expiation du péché. 

Depuis le premier sacrifice, lorsque Dieu a tué des animaux pour couvrir Adam et Eve, un sacrifice a été requis pour expier le péché. La vérité véhiculée est qu'un innocent se substitue au coupable. Romains 6:23 déclare que "le salaire du péché, c'est la mort". Nous méritons la mort pour nos actions pécheresses, mais Jésus a donné sa vie pour que nous puissions vivre, et offre maintenant cette vie à tous ceux qui croiront en lui. 

N'ayons jamais honte de l'évangile du salut par le sang de Jésus. Rejoignons plutôt le chœur céleste en chantant "Racheté par le sang de l'Agneau !" 

"'For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you upon the altar to make atonement for your souls; for it is the blood that makes atonement for the soul.'" -Leviticus 17:11

Believers in Christ have often been criticized for their emphasis upon the blood of Jesus. However, “blood” occurs 360 times in the Old Testament and more than fifty times in the New Testament with reference to atonement. Moses declares in Leviticus that life is in the blood and that only blood can make atonement for sin. 

From the first sacrifice, when God killed animals to make coverings for Adam and Eve, a sacrifice has been required to atone for sin. The truth conveyed is that an innocent one substitutes for the guilty. Romans 6:23 declares that “the wages of sin is death.” We deserve death for our sinful deeds, but Jesus gave His life that we might live, and now offers that life to all who will believe in Him. 

Let us never be ashamed of the gospel of salvation through the blood of Jesus. Rather, let us join the heavenly chorus in singing, “Redeemed by the blood of the Lamb!”
