Il dit : "Si vous écoutez attentivement l'Éternel, votre Dieu, et si vous faites ce qui est juste à ses yeux, si vous prêtez attention à ses commandements et si vous observez tous ses décrets, je ne vous ferai pas venir une des maladies que j'ai fait venir sur les Égyptiens, car je suis l'Éternel, qui vous guérit. -Exode 15:26

L'une des vérités les plus fondamentales de la Bible est que Dieu nous atteint, offrant sa vie pour transformer tous les aspects de notre vie. Le salut est le sauvetage par Dieu de toute la personne, et la guérison est sa réparation complète de cette personne. Le mot hébreu dans ce texte, "rapha", signifie "guérir, réparer, raccommoder, rétablir la santé". La principale référence de "rapha" est la guérison physique, bien qu'il puisse également être utilisé en relation avec la guérison d'une âme (Psaumes 41:4) et la guérison d'un cœur brisé (Psaumes 147:3).

Certains ont tenté de limiter le pouvoir de guérison de Dieu à l'esprit ou à l'âme, mais Exode 15:26 parle des maladies physiques et de leur guérison divine. La première mention du "rapha" dans la Bible (Genèse 20:17) fait incontestablement référence à la guérison d'une condition physique, comme dans la guérison de la lèpre et des furoncles (Lévitique 13:18 ; 14:3).

C'est pourquoi la Bible affirme et nous croyons et recevons : "Je suis l'Éternel, ton médecin."

He said, “If you listen carefully to the LORD your God and do what is right in his eyes, if you pay attention to his commands and keep all his decrees, I will not bring on you any of the diseases I brought on the Egyptians, for I am the LORD, who heals you.” -Exodus 15:26

One of the most basic truths of Scripture is that God reaches to us, offering His life to transform all aspects of our lives. Salvation is God’s rescue of the entire person, and healing is His complete repair of that person. The Hebrew word in this text, rapha’, means “to cure, repair, mend, restore to health.” The main reference of rapha’ is to physical healing, though it may also be used in relation to the healing of a soul (Ps. 41:4) and the healing of a broken heart (Ps. 147:3).

Some have attempted to limit God’s healing power to the spirit or soul, but Exodus 15:26 speaks of physical maladies and their divine cure. The first mention of rapha’ in the Bible (Gen. 20:17) refers unquestionably to the cure of a physical condition, as in to healing from leprosy and boils (Lev. 13:18; 14:3).

Therefore, Scripture affirms and we believe and receive it: “I am the LORD your Physician.”
