Les qualités du don

Le roi dit alors à Arauna : "Non, mais je te l'achèterai à prix d'argent, et je n'offrirai pas d'holocaustes à l'Éternel, mon Dieu, avec ce qui ne me coûte rien. David acheta donc l'aire et les bœufs pour cinquante sicles d'argent. -2 Samuel 24:24

Arauna essaya de donner au roi David des terres, des bœufs et d'autres objets pour les sacrifices," mais David insista pour payer Arauna, disant qu'il ne pouvait pas présenter à Dieu une offrande qui ne lui coûtait rien. 

Le cœur de la foi est que si vous ne faites pas l'expérience d'un sacrifice, vous n'avez pas vraiment donné. Tant que votre don ne vous coûte pas quelque chose, quelque chose qui représente une partie de votre vie même, alors ce n'est pas un don vivant et ne donnera pas une bonne récolte. Ainsi, notre don à Dieu devrait avoir ces trois qualités : 

Premièrement, il doit être le meilleur de nous-mêmes. Parce que Dieu nous a donné le meilleur de lui-même, nous voulons lui donner le meilleur de nous-mêmes. 

Deuxièmement, nous devrions donner à Dieu en premier. La première pensée qui nous vient à l'esprit après avoir reçu quelque chose devrait être : "Comment puis-je donner une partie de cette moisson à l'oeuvre du Seigneur ?" 

Troisièmement, notre don doit être généreux, couler librement et abondamment de notre coeur. Jésus a dit : "Vous avez reçu gratuitement, donnez gratuitement" (Matthieu 10:8). 

Then the king said to Araunah, “No, but I will surely buy it from you for a price; nor will I offer burnt offerings to the LORD my God with that which costs me nothing.” So David bought the threshing floor and the oxen for fifty shekels of silver. -2 Samuel 24:24

Araunah tried to give King David land, oxen, and other items for sacrifices, but David insisted on paying Araunah, saying that he could not present to God an offering that cost him nothing. 

The heart of faith is that unless you experience some sacrifice, you have not truly given. Until your giving costs you something, something that represents a portion of your very life, then it is not a living gift and will not yield a good harvest. Thus, our giving to God should have these three qualities: 

First, it should be our best. Because God has given His best  to us, we want to give our best to Him. 

Second, we should give to God first. The first thought in our minds after we have received something should be, “How can I give a portion of this harvest to the work of the Lord?” 

Third, our giving should be generous, flowing freely and abundantly from our heart. Jesus said, “Freely you have received, freely give” (Matthew 10:8).
