Patience et foi

Puis Caleb a fait taire le peuple devant Moïse et a dit : "Montons tout de suite et prenons possession, car nous sommes bien capables de la surmonter". -Nombres 13:30

Caleb a vu les mêmes géants et les mêmes villes fortifiées que les autres espions, mais les dix espions ont rapporté un "mauvais rapport" d'incrédulité. Caleb, cependant, a déclaré une condamnation, une confession, devant tout Israël : "Nous sommes bien capables de la surmonter." Avec les autres, il avait soigneusement arpenté le terrain. Il avait vu les défis, sa foi n'était donc pas aveugle. La foi ne nie pas la réalité de la difficulté ; elle déclare plutôt la puissance de Dieu face au problème. 

Bien que son rapport rempli de foi ait été rejeté par la majorité, Caleb a tenu bon dans la foi, mais il s'est quand même engagé dans un partenariat et un soutien aux côtés de ceux dont l'incrédulité a retardé sa propre expérience. Il a fait preuve d'une remarquable combinaison de foi et de patience. Le fait que Caleb ait finalement pris possession des terres à une date ultérieure indique que, même si des retards surviennent, la déclaration de foi apportera finalement la victoire au croyant.

Then Caleb quieted the people before Moses, and said, “Let us go up at once and take possession, for we are well able to overcome it." -Numbers 13:30

Caleb saw the same giants and walled cities as the other spies, but the ten spies brought back a “bad report” of unbelief. Caleb, however, declared a conviction, a confession, before all Israel: “We are well able to overcome it.” He along with the others had carefully surveyed the land. He had seen the challenges, so his faith was not blind. Faith does not deny the reality of the difficulty; rather, it declares the power of God in the face of the problem. 

Though his faith-filled report was rejected by the majority, Caleb stood his ground in faith, but still moved in partnership and support alongside those whose unbelief delayed his own experience. He demonstrated a remarkable combination of faith and patience. Caleb’s eventual possession of the land at a later date indicates that even though delays come, the declaration of faith will ultimately bring victory to the believer.
