Allez et partagez

Comment, alors, faire appel à celui en qui ils n'ont pas cru ? Et comment peuvent-ils croire en celui dont ils n'ont pas entendu parler ? Et comment peuvent-ils entendre sans que quelqu'un leur prêche ? -Romains 10:14

Envoyer... proclamer... entendre... croire... appeler. Le salut exige ces étapes. La première est la plus importante. Sans elle, les autres n'auront pas lieu. Pas étonnant que Paul s'exclame : "Que les pieds de ceux qui prêchent l'évangile de la paix sont beaux !" (Rom. 10:15). Si tous ceux sur qui l'Esprit vient sont les témoins de Christ (Actes 1:8), alors tous les croyants sont "envoyés" pour apporter la bonne nouvelle. D'abord à ceux qui se trouvent dans leur sphère d'influence immédiate. Pour certains, cela peut signifier un jour être "envoyé" plus loin, comme les "bandes missionnaires" du livre des Actes (Actes 11:19-21 ; 13:1-3).

Si l'Esprit du Christ est en nous et qu'il est venu chercher et sauver les perdus, comment pouvons-nous faire moins ? Que l'amour du Christ nous pousse à aller partager la bonne nouvelle, car la foi vient en entendant. Sinon, comment peuvent-ils entendre et croire ? Sinon, comment aurions-nous entendu et cru ?

How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? -Romans 10:14

Sending…proclaiming…hearing…believing…calling. Salvation requires these steps. The first is the most important. Without it the others will not happen. No wonder Paul exclaims, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace!” (Rom. 10:15). If all upon whom the Spirit comes are Christ’s witnesses (Acts 1:8), then all believers are “sent” to bring the good news. First to those within their immediate sphere of influence. For some it may one day mean being “sent” further like the “missionary bands” in the book of Acts (Acts 11:19–21; 13:1–3).

If the Spirit of Christ is in us and He came to seek and to save the lost, how can we do less? May the love of Christ compell us to go and share the good news, for faith comes by hearing. How else can they hear and believe? How else would we have heard and believed?
